It came to her as a shock
Tears welled up in her eyes, how scared she was, she could no longer hide

A figure so inspirational, a hand so strong
Someone who could teach her how to make things right, when she had wronged

When she was unsure and afraid of  what lay ahead of her
She was told to close her eyes and think about all the things that could go right

Eyes so bright, words so wise
She had learned much more from him than she ever could from a textbook
He took her to places where no flight or train ever could

In a world so unsafe and insecure
The only home she needed was his arms
Day and night, on his deathbed
She was by his side, her eyes dry
for she had promised him not to cry

He promised her he would never leave
But the lifeless corpse in front of her said that he was long gone.

She knew this would happen
But who can ever be prepared for something like this

He had told her not to cry
To be the brave girl he had always taught her to be

No longer could she hold back her tears

It came to her as a shock
Tears welled up in her eyes
How scared she was, she could no longer hide
